I am pregnant and I have been trying to stock up on food in our pantry that my husband, sister or mother can cook after I have the baby (because although I do believe I am superwoman, I am also very aware of the fact that I am human and I better get my rest so me and my baby can recover after birth :) ) I have mac n cheese in the pantry, tons of those lipton pasta and rice sides, spaghetti noodles and spaghetti sauce, canned tuna, etc. Husband said he won't mind going shopping for the fresh fruit and veggies I love as well, but I want to freeze some meals or at least marinate some chicken in the freezer and I have been googling and yahooing but haven't found quite the websites I'm looking for when it comes to HOMEMADE marinades that I can put chicken in and freeze them with. We usually buy the pre-made bottled marinades and use those, but dang it that will get expensive when there are more than our two mouths to feed! I want recipes that I can get ingredients from the store and mix and match items for different flavors. And I want it to be used on chicken because there have been meat recalls lately (and y'all better help me in praying that there ain't no recalls on chicken once I get started on all of this-ha ha!)
Please help, kind answers only as I do plan on tagging those who are rude :) Thank you for all of your help in advance!Do you have any homemade marinade recipes for chicken that I can freeze with the chicken?
Asian:
2-3T Soy Sauce
1/4 c rice wine vinegar (I use plain, but you can use seasoned if you want)
1T grated fresh ginger
2 green onions chopped, white and green parts
2T toasted sesame oil
2T finely chopped cilantro
sesame seeds (just a sprinkling)
asian hot sauce (if you like it spicy - otherwise leave it out)
1/2 t dry mustard
1/2 t ground white pepper
Mix it all together, then taste it. The predominant flavors you should taste are the ginger and the sesame oil. The soy sauce acts as your salt, so if it isn't salty enough for your taste, add more soy sauce. Pour it over the chicken in a freezer bag and toss it in the freezer.
Italian:
1/4 C extra virgin olive oil
2T italian seasoning
1/4 diced red onion
2-3 cloves of garlic, smashed
2 T chopped parsley (or 1T dried parsley - I prefer fresh though)
salt
pepper
whisk it all together and pour it over chicken in a freezer bag.
and congrats on your new family member :)Do you have any homemade marinade recipes for chicken that I can freeze with the chicken?
honestly the bottled marinades are going to be less expensive then making your own. Spices are the most expensive thing at the grocery store.....and marinades take several spices.
